teaching. We will be celebrating Krishna's birthday in the true spirit of the term only
when we put his teaching into practice.

SUN AND SATURN AT WAR

On 11th  August 2009, the world will witness the Saturnine equinox when the tilt  of Saturn axis  is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the Sun being vertically above a point on the Saturn ‘s equator.  The name equinox is derived from the Latin aeques (equal) and nox (night) because around the equinox, the day and night are approx.  equal.  At an equinox, the sun is at one of two opposite points on the celestial spephere where the celestial equator and the elliptical intersect.  These points are called equinox.  On earth, the equinox happens each year at two specific movement in time, while for Saturn, it is once in 15 years as Saturn orbital period is 30 Earth Years long.
Hence on 11th Aug, the unstoppable Saturn and Sun’s war will intensify.

At this important juncture of Saturn and Sun’s war, the malificence  of Saturn will greatly influence  the majestic and bright Sun..  The weak position of Sun insinuates political disturbances in India as Sun being the significator of Govt. and powers.  Saturn’s influence will cause agitation in public and lead to protest against Govt.  India may face a set back with loss of an experienced political leader.

Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse) and its Effects

A solar eclipse is a New Moon with tremendous impact. The Sun that gives us life and lights our path is joined briefly with the dark and mysterious qualities of the Moon. 

All eclipses indicate change; solar eclipses signify beginnings and usually manifest as events in the outer world.
The heightened impact of eclipse energy can be felt by everyone as much as 3 months in advance and has slight after effects for as long as 3 years afterwards. Although the energies are most prominent for a week on either side of the eclipse (many feel a heightened sense of anxiety during this period), the influence on events continues. Eclipse periods are extremely active, often associated with meaningful events and public exposure.
A total solar eclipse- Purna Surya Grahan will be visible in India on July 22, 2009 from early morning 5:28 hrs to 7:25 hrs. According to the Hindu date it will be on Shravan month Krishna paksha, 30 (Amavasi day), Wednesday, Samvat 2066. This eclipse will be on Pushya Nakshatra and Cancer sign. (Karka Rashi).
According to NASA, for New Delhi, maximum time for this solar eclipse is 6:27 am. At this time the lagna or the rising sign is Cancer of 15 degrees and 7 minutes in 2nd decandate (drekkana) and Sun of 5 degrees 22 minutes in 1st decandate. The lagna, Sun, Mercury and Ketu will all be passing through Pushya Nakshatra with the aspect of Rahu.

This solar eclipse will have a major impact on people who have a Grahan Dosha in their respective charts. They should be careful with their health concerning bones, eyes, stomach and heart. As the Sun is in conjunction with Ketu, surgeries can also be expected.

As the eclipse this time falls in Cancer which is a watery sign, and Sun being a dry planet, severe changes in weather such as drying up of rivers, lack of rainfall and drought like conditions are indicated. Agriculture and crops may suffer and sun which represents government will give ups and downs to politicians and people holding honorable ranks like barristers, administrators or rulers especially in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar as these areas will see total solar eclipse. India’s natal chart has a Taurus ascendant and Cancer falls in the third house and henceforth the significances of the third house will suffer. Transportation industry can expect problems which are evident in form of metro mishaps. Good relations with the neighboring countries are also unlikely. Since the lagna is Cancer which is a movable sign, the adverse effects will only be temporary and would not last for a long time.

Though the impact of an eclipse on an individual is not significant but it can be foreseen only through natal charts. However the effect on various signs can be given as follows:The solar eclipse is not auspicious for the natives of Aries, Cancer, Leo and Sagittarius sign. Care should be taken. While it will be favorable for Taurus,Virgo, Libra and Aquarius. Good results will flow. Average results for Gemini, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces are indicated.

SUN IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Sun is one of the most important of the nine celestial planets in Hindu astrology. Sun is the soul of the universe, represents the life force which enlivens the solar system.  The solar ray is linked with the innermost essence of the human beings and hence the Atma or the soul is represented by the sun. The sun operates from the inner depth, illuminating the mind and soul, arousing spirituality and making the personality glow with radiance. Under the influence of sun, materialism, egotism and wrong-doing are eliminated.  Outwardly determined, matter of fact and rigid, inwardly kind and royal, the sun operates majestically. Being such an overpowering planet, the effect of the sun is very significant.    The strength of a natal chart depends upon the disposition of the sun.

 

The sun, a male planet is assigned sattwa guna, which indicates its purity. Astrologically the sun is considered to be tall, fiery in nature with yellow eyes, dark brown colour and scanty hair. Sun is the indicator of health, eyes, father, authority, government, vitality, copper colour and royalty. The sun rules the East, suggesting auspicious beginning. It only moves forward and is never in retrograde motion.   

 

In the Ascendant, Sun gives baldness and sharpness of personality. The native is full of new ideas and eager to implement them, but he will meet with impediments when he tries to actualize his plans.
